FortBragg.com is the official tourism site for the city of Fort Bragg, CA. As the largest city (of 7000!) on the Mendocino Coast, Fort Bragg plays host to a lot of tourists coming to experience the ocean and the redwoods. Among its many activities, the Fort Bragg Promotions Committee is responsible for the tourism Web site.
Besides having hundreds of pages and blog posts, the big feature of this site is the business directory, featuring over 500 businesses in Fort Bragg. When I took over this site after a disastrous foray into Drupal, I had to extract all content out of the Drupal system with no documentation for anything – including the business directory itself. Data for the directory is stored in a custom MYSQL table, and I wrote an administrative backend for managing it, and added code to the theme to interact with the directory.
